Product Description A modern cynic has discovered what he believes to be a fatal flaw in society's judicial system. In a state of despair he calls upon an ancient god to send him someone who can dispel this terrible apprehension and thus restore his former serenity. The god sends the longdead Greek progenitor of all lawyers, Protagoras. The two meet by a duck pond. In a fascinating dialogue, the cynic leads Protagoras and the chorus of ducks through the maze of evidence that has destroyed his peace of mind, meanwhile calling on the legendary Greek to refute his argument. His case proves to be a tough nut to crack the cynic has gathered his evidence by carefully studying the laws and languages of all major cultures since ancient Egypt. Delightfully written, the dialogue is part satire, part philosophy. Most of all, however, it is a downtoearth analysis of what makes or breaks any society the specific gravity of the law. The author has used a unique method. He has examined the popular metaphors of today's language as a doctor would examine a man's urine. The result is this disturbing question: Do we really know what we are talking about? About the Author Richard Matlick is an active aviator and aircraft owner. Born in 1930, he is a retired research analyst and associate professor of English. Mr. Matlick resides in Frederick, Maryland.
