Beobachtungsdaten wirtschafts oder sozialwissenschaftlicher Phanomene fallen haufig in Form von Zeitreihen an, zu deren Analyse eine Vielzahl von Verfahren in der statistischen Fach literatur vorgeschlagen wird. Nach dem historisch alteren Ansatz der Komponentenzerlegung einer Zeitreihe befaBt man sich heute nahezu ausschlieBlich mit Analyseverfahren, die auf der Theorie der stochastischen Pro zesse beruhen. Im Rahmen dieses Konzepts werden Zeitreihen als Realisationen solcher Prozesse, d.h. als Ergebnisse von Zufalls experimenten, aufgefaBt. Zeitreihenanalyse in diesem Zusammen hang bedeutet die Untersuchung der zugrundeliegenden Prozesse, die als schwach stationar angenommen werden. Die Analyse kann im Zeit oder im Frequenzbereich [2. Kapitel] durchgeflihrt werden. Analyseverfahren auf der Grundlage der Theorie stochastischer Prozesse haben jenseits ihrer besseren theoretischen Fundierung eine gravierende Schwache: der Mangel an nichtasymptotischen Aussagen tiber die verwendeten Schatzfunktionen. Als Konsequenz wird fur Analysen eine Reihenlange von 100 bis 200 Werten als wlinschenswert, wenn nicht gar notwendig, angesehen. Zeitreihen, speziell okonomische, stehen in einer derartigen Lange aber meist nicht zur Verfligung. Das Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die Untersuchung der Grund lagen dieser Analyseverfahren, d.h. die Untersuchung von Schatz funktionen fur die Momentfunktionen (Zeitbereich) und die Spek 8 traldichten (Frequenzbereich) stochastischer Prozesse unter dem Gesichtspunkt des Schatzens aus kurzen Zeitreihen. Der Terminus 'kurze Zeitreihe' ist nicht eindeutig definierbar. Wann eine Zeitreihe als kurz zu bezeichnen ist, hangt vom Schatzverfahren und der Struktur des erzeugenden Prozesses ab.
