Cities are places where most people will spend most of their lives. The rate at which people move to the City especially in the 21st Century remains overwhelming. At the same time there is an exponetial growth of Cities, especially Metropolitan Cities such as the metropolitan City of Cape Town, in South Africa. Cities should be places to enjoy, to make love, to live, to relax, to celebrate, to dance, to sing and anything enjoyable you can think of. In this book principles such as minimalism, dynamicism among others are explored as core principles for fast growing cities with high numbers of People to remain vibrant. When these principles are applied, the City is allowed to manifest its best, and hence people enjoy living in the City. The ability for people to fall in love with the City is important for the 21st century. This book is the Thesis that was Submitted to the University of Cape Town for the Master of City Planning and Urban Design,2005. The actual tittle was "Restructuring a Strategic Area in the City of Cape Town using the Concept of Structural Integrity." Structural Integrity unpacks and tests the principles from which a vibrant City should operate.
