Written by Peter Gilquist, author of BECOMING ORTHODOX as well a one of the original members of Campus Crusade for Christ who converted to Orthodoxy, this biography tells the story of the Most Reverend Metropolitan Archbishop Phillip (Saliba)from his origins in Lebanon up to his life in the early 1990's. Saliba remains the Primate of the Antiochian Orthodox Church in America. Gilquist writes with a great deal of love and respect for Met. Philip, who was the hierarch who opened his denomination to the Evangelical Orthodox Church formed by the former members of Campus Crusade for Christ, an Evangelical parachurch organization. Metropolitan Philip is perhaps the most progressive of the Primates of the various Orthodox Churches in America. This easily read biography does not really go into depth about the man, but simply serves as an introduction to his life.
