Im Hinblick auf die Finanzierungsstruktur hat insbesondere der Mittelstand als grter Arbeitgeber Deutschlands erheblichen Nachholbedarf. Aufgrund Basel II und der aktuellen Finanzkrise mssen sich immer mehr mittelstndische Unternehmen nach Finanzierungsalternativen zum klassischen Bankdarlehen umsehen. Bei Basel II richtet sich die Kreditvergabepolitik u. a. nach der Eigenkapitalquote. Im internationalen Vergleich weisen kleine und mittlere Unternehmen (KMU) eine sehr geringe Eigenkapitalquote von 7,5 % auf. Um die Eigenkapitalquote zu erhhen und damit auch die Bonitt bzw. das Rating zu verbessern, eignet sich die MezzanineFinanzierungsform. Hierbei handelt es sich um eine Mischform, zwischen klassischem Fremdkapital und Eigenkapital, als Mittel zur Erhhung der Eigenkapitalquote. Um eine langfristige Prsenz des Mittelstands auf dem internationalen Markt zu gewhrleisten, sind Investitionen in Zukunftstechnologien unerlsslich.
