Born to Hermes in Little Venice, Micia is taken to Fulham by her new foster mother 'the Giraffe' an Italian lady moving in elegant AngloItalian society. At first bewildered by the strange sounds emanating from the mouths of 'the Circle', Micia determines to learn Italian and bestows on herself the title of Principessa Pecina Della Piccola Venezia. It doesn't take long before she is at home with the sybaritic lifestyle and rich language, but none of this is enough to keep her out of scrapes and she soon needs all her nine lives. Often but a whisker away from a nasty end whirring in the washing machine, incarcerated under the floorboards, dangling by one delicate claw from precipitous ledges she comes through it all with amour propre intact. Along the way she meets a host of fascinating friends, feline and human: Fatima the Witch Cat, Titus the horticultural cat, the 'Bear' who moves in with her mistress, and many others.
