Las rocas fosfricas son fertilizantes de lenta liberacin incapaces de mantener una alta concentracin de fsforo en el suelo, requerida para la adecuada productividad de los cultivos. Para su aprovechamiento se debe maximizar el rea de contracto entre las partculas de la roca y del suelo, e incrementar la superficie de contacto entre la raz y las partculas de roca, logrndose la apropiada captacin de fsforo por la planta. Esto puede cumplirse al adicionar en el sistema plantasuelo un agente acidificador, microorganismos capaces de solubilizar las rocas fosfricas, e inoculando las plantas con hongos Glomeromycota, formadores de micorrizas arbusculares, que incrementan la superficie de absorcin de la raz. El rol de las micorrizas arbusculares en la nutricin fosforada de la planta es conocido; su interaccin con otros microorganismos del suelo ha sido descrita, particularmente con microorganismos solubilizadores de fosfatos insolubles. Estudiaremos la efectividad de esta interaccin biolgica con tcnicas isotpicas (P32 y N15), para una mejor comprensin de los mecanismos de captacin del fsforo por la planta mediante los microorganismos.
