This book shows how electrophysiologists, neuroanatomists, and neurochemists can use personal computers to solve their laboratory problems. Expensive minicomputers are already being used for these tasks, but most researchers are unaware of the capabilities of these simpler machines. The editor has brought together a team of nine experts to describe their experiences with computers and microprocessors in their work. Different micros are discussed and their relative advantages evaluated; details are given of the applications of systems based on the 6502 and Z80 chips of electrophysiology. In a separate chapter a package for the Apple II is described which provides quantitative analysis of light microscopic and EM sections for neuroanatomists. Finally there are chapters on simple molecular modelling and the construction of hardware for a Z80 interface. A glossary of all technical terms used in the book is provided.

Great content, but a bit dense
The book is filled with valuable information about microcomputers in neuroscience, but wow, it can be pretty heavy at times. I had to take breaks between chapters to really digest everything. Still, I appreciate the depth!

Informative but not for beginners
If you're new to neuroscience, this book might be a bit overwhelming. The details on microcomputers are fascinating but sometimes too technical. I wish it had more introductory content for those just getting started.
