Er lst bei den Rezipienten zumeist Unbehagen und seit den Anschlgen vom 11. September vermehrt auch die Assoziation direkter Bedrohung vornehmlich durch islamistisch motivierten Terrorismus aus. Die dringend notwendige spezifischere Auseinandersetzung mit dem tatschlichen Bedeutungsinhalt sowie den Problematiken, die mit dem Begriff verbunden sind, erfolgt hingegen bislang kaum. Die Parallelgesellschaftsdebatte ist ideologisch stark aufgeladen und emotionalisiert. Diesem Missstand soll in der vorliegenden Publikation Abhilfe geschaffen werden. Anspruch dieser Arbeit ist es, die medial und politisch instrumentalisierte Debatte ber Chancen und Hrden der Integration, vor allem der (trkisch) muslimischen Minderheit in Deutschland, zu versachlichen. In Anerkennung der Tatsache, dass Integration keine Einbahnstrae ist, rckt hierbei auch der geschichtliche Aspekt der deutschen Auslnderpolitik in den Blickpunkt sowie die Realitt integrationshemmender Einstellungen der deutschen Mehrheitsgesellschaft. Die zentrale Fragestellung lautet: Welche Inhalte und Problemlagen werden mit dem Begriff der Parallelgesellschaft tatschlich umrissen und wie und mit welchen Folgen werden bzw. wurden diese bislang von Wissenschaft und Politik aufgegriffen?
