Das Buch beschreibt das interdependente Simulationssystem MKS (Mikrofundierte Konjunktursimulation). Am Anfang der Arbeit werden ausgewhlte Anstze der Konjunkturtheorie insbesondere hinsichtlich ihrer Mikrofundierung dargestellt und kritisiert. In den folgenden Teilen des Buches wird dann in einem auf Simulationsverfahren aufbauenden Ansatz versucht, die Probleme des Konjunkturmodellbaus mit neuen, teilweise fachbergreifenden Methoden zu lsen. Dazu werden einzelne Aspekte menschlicher Entscheidungsprozesse nher betrachtet. Erkenntnisse der Psychologie des Problemlsens lieen es sinnvoll erscheinen, die Annahme rationalen Verhaltens zu lockern. Die Wechselwirkungen wirtschaftlicher Entscheidungen auf Mikro und Makroebene werden mit Hilfe einer ausfhrlich dargestellten Beispielsimulation mit dem System MKS veranschaulicht. Die erzeugten Konjunkturschwankungen haben Eigenschaften, die den sogenannten stilisierten Fakten der Konjunkturtheorie besser gerecht werden als die am Beginn der Arbeit dargestellten Modelle. Das Projekt umfat die Entwicklung, die Dokumentation und das Testen des Systems MKS. Es versteht sich als ein Beitrag, der ein vielseitiges und leistungsfhiges Werkzeug fr weitergehende Analysen und Studien sowie fr die akademische Lehre bereitstellt.
