In w itgehender Ubereinstimmung mit der Social anthropology of complex societies mochte er weg von einer romantisierendasthetisierenden, ja antiqua risch anmutenden Einstellung, wie sie nicht nur in dies em Zusammenhang be 3 klagt wird. Bei dieser Einstellung werde der Migrant verkannt, die ihn kenn zeichnenden Probleme wtirden eher verdeckt als erhellt. Die kritisierte Sichtweise sei jedoch insofern interessant, als sie eine bestimmte politische Linie des Um gangs mit dem Arbeitseinwanderer wiederspiegele. Nun haben wir es im vorliegenden Zusammenhang nicht direkt mit ethnolo gischen Arbeiten tiber den Migranten zu tun, sondem einerseits mit sozial wissenschaftlichen und andererseits mit ganz alltaglichen Stellungnahmen. Aber was Meillassoux kritisiert, gilt erst recht hier. Vielleicht gerade weil es sich nicht urn ethnologisch fundierte Positionen handelt, treten so etwas wie "Ethnologis men" auf. Besonders in der Bundesrepublik werden immer wieder ethnische Eckdaten in ethnologischer Manier zur Grundlage der Diskussion gemacht. Man behauptet, es seien vor allem die differenten kulturellen Eigenschaften des Mi granten, die seine Lage in der Bundesrepublik so schwierig machten.
