Los avances en el campo educativo y la alta complejidad del modelado del estudiante han provocado que sea uno de los aspectos ms investigados en Sistemas Inteligentes de Tutora. Los Modelos del Estudiante no deberan representar slo el conocimiento del estudiante, sino adems reflejar, en lo posible, el proceso de razonamiento del estudiante. Para facilitar este objetivo, en este libro se propone una nueva aproximacin del modelado del estudiante que se beneficia de las ventajas de la Ingeniera Ontolgica, avanzando en la bsqueda de una representacin de los conocimientos del estudiante ms completa y estructurada enfocada, principalmente, al proceso de diagnstico cognitivo del Modelo del Estudiante. El mtodo de diagnstico que se presenta aqu proporciona una rica inferencia acerca del estado de los conocimientos del estudiante, especialmente, acerca del estado sobre los objetivos alcanzados o no. La meta principal de este trabajo es lograr Modelos del Estudiante con una buena adaptabilidad a las caractersticas del estudiante y una alta flexibilidad para su integracin en diversos Sistemas Inteligentes de Tutora.
