Las operaciones de rectificado sin centros presentan unas caractersticas que las hacen especialmente susceptibles de sufrir inestabilidades dinmicas, dando lugar a las vibraciones de chatter. Tratndose de un proceso generalmente utilizado en operaciones de acabado, la presencia de vibraciones en este tipo de mquinas es especialmente perjudicial, por lo que el diseo de sistemas de control representa un campo de gran inters. Estos diseos requieren disponer de modelos precisos que evalen la efectividad de diferentes alternativas antes de su implantacin prctica, de tal forma que se pueda abordar un proceso de optimizacin mediante simulaciones. Atendiendo a la necesidad mencionada, en este libro se presenta tanto el estudio de las caractersticas dinmicas de una rectificadora sin centros como el proceso de simulacin de un sistema de control activo de vibraciones. Las estimaciones tericas obtenidas muestran una adecuada correspondencia con los resultados experimentales, validando el modelo desarrollado.
