Les travaux de recherche prsents dans ce mmoire ont trait la modlisation et la simulation de fissures en 3D, avec possible refermeture, tout en assurant lindpendance de la propagation par rapport au maillage. Lobjectif affich est donc la prdiction de lvolution de ce type de dfaut lchelle macroscopique de la structure, sous chargements quasistatiques non cycliques ou cycliques sous sollicitations rptes en fatigue. Lexpos adresse principalement la thmatique mthodes numriques au service de la modlisation mcanique, mme si on identifie clairement le besoin de validations exprimentales, par rapport aux choix numriques qui sont faits. Quatre grands thmes sont proposs qui assurent la cohrence de la dmarche scientifique poursuivie : la reprsentation des fissures et le calcul des grandeurs de mcanique de la rupture ou de la fatigue, leur propagation et la prise en compte des conditions dinterface. Enfin les dveloppements numriques relatifs ces travaux ont t conus et capitaliss au sein de Code_Aster libre pour une diffusion rapide vers lingnierie dEDF et ses partenaires industriels ou acadmiques.
