Este libro describe un captulo aparte acerca de la historia numismtica centroamericana, en relacin con las medallas o monedas acuadas para la proclama por la breve anexin de dicha regin al Imperio mexicano de Agustn de Iturbide en el perodo 1822 a 1823. Se conoce relativamente poco sobre de los eventos histricos asociados con la independencia centroamericana de Espaa, y menos an con la historia numismtica respectiva, lo que ha oscurecido y dificultado la atribucin de las piezas numismticas de esos pases. Para llenar esos vacos se han realizado investigaciones exhaustivas sobre documentacin histrica disponible en los archivos nacionales de Mxico y de los pases centroamericanos. Ello ha permitido identificar cada una de las medallas o monedas acuadas para celebrar dicha ocasin en los pases centroamericanos, luego de la independencia de la Corona Espaola.
