Um Falterarten und ihre Habitate zu schtzen, wird oft das Monitoring der Populationen neben anderen Methoden eingesetzt. In vielen Studien wurde deshalb eine FangWiederfangStudie zur Bestimmung der Populationsgre durchgefhrt. Doch inwieweit beeinflusst das ?handling? whrend dem Markieren das Verhalten der Falter? Und welche Verhaltensunterschiede ergeben sich bei unterschiedlichen Freilassungsorten? Aber auch welche Landschaftsstrukturen berfliegen die Schmetterlinge, welche Rolle spielt die Habitatqualitt und wie gro sind die Wanderstrecken und die Standorttreue? Auf diese Fragen aufbauend, konnte in dieser Arbeit von der Autorin nachgewiesen werden, dass eine Khlung nicht bei jeder Schmetterlingsart notwendig oder ratsam ist. Zudem bilden verschiedene Landschaftsstrukturen unterschiedlich starke Barrieren und die Falter orientieren sich sehr an der Habitatqualitt. Das Buch richtet sich an Biologen, welche Monitoringuntersuchungen an Schmetterlingen und anderen Insekten durchfhren wollen, aber auch an alle Interessierten und Naturschtzer. Auerdem kann es als wichtiger Baustein fr Manahmen innerhalb der FFHRichtlinie angesehen werden.
