Da Mrchen schon seit langem in verschiedenen Klassenstufen der Grundschule thematisiert werden, gibt es eine ganze Reihe didaktischer und methodischer Konzepte, die zu dieser Literaturgattung entwickelt, erprobt und auch kritisch reflektiert wurden. Nicht nur diese Vielfalt teilweise widersprchlicher wissenschaftlicher Betrachtungsweisen, sondern auch die besondere Bedeutung, die Mrchen fr Kinder haben, sind Anlass, sich mit diesem Thema intensiv auseinander zu setzen. . Mrchen scheinen auerdem zwielichtige Gebilde zu sein, die wir auf der einen Seite traditionell, gefhlsmig wertschtzen und die wir auf der anderen Seite problematisierend betrachten. Hinzu kommt, dass der Unterricht in der Schule stndig hheren Anforderungen und Leistungsstandards gerecht werden muss. Neben einer Betrachtung der Literaturgattung soll hier insbesondere der Frage der besonderen Bedeutung des Mrchens fr Kinder und der damit verbundenen Konsequenzen fr den Deutschunterricht nachgegangen werden. Besonderes Augenmerk wird dabei auf Mrchen im Werkstattunterricht gelegt. Diese Arbeit liefert neben den Sachanalysen und der Lehrplanlegitimation, sowie den Grundlagen des Werkstattunterrichtes eine detaillierte Betrachtung der am Markt befindlichen Modelle (Stand 2006) fr Mrchen im Werkstattunterricht. Auerdem liefert sie im zweiten Teil den Versuch, eine eigene Mrchenwerkstatt zu liefern, die den Ansprchen an guten Werkstattunterricht in der Grundschule gerecht wird.
