Cada vez es mayor el nmero de mujeres que acceden al poder pblico y a la empresa pero son los cargos jerrquicos los que todava son detentados, en su gran mayora, por hombres. La presencia de ciertas mujeres en dichos cargos, ha representado algn suceso aislado pues en general el imaginario social tradicional de la mujer obediente permanece. Existen serias limitantes que estn sustentadas en ese imaginario: desde la carga simblica de los espacios de poder hasta los obstculos en lo real que experimentan las mujeres para acceder a l. Es la modernidad tarda en donde ms se manifiestan los intentos por ingresar al mbito del poder pero tambin en donde ms se muestran las limitantes tanto subjetivas como sociales, que se ven expresadas a travs del llamado Techo de Cristal. La lgica del libro se estructura en tres partes: el contexto tericoconceptual; el mbito pblicopoltico y finalmente el mbito empresarial con respecto a las dificultades y fortalezas de algunas mujeres en Amrica Latina para acceder a los puestos de toma de decisiones.
