The poets of NorthEast India, though belonging to diverse spaces, cultures, languages and religions, share a common bond. It is a sensibility defined by a deep connection with the land; the overarching presence of Nature in their lives; the predominance of myths and tribal folklore; and the Search for an identity. All this informs their Poetry and gives it a unique Flavour. Mostly, they hail from the multifarious ethnic groups. Obviously, ethnicity is a major concern in their poetry. The present anthology MultiEthnic Poetry in English from NorthEast India: A Critical Spectrum Volume I, is a sincere attempt to evaluate NorthEast Indian Poetry from the perspective of MultiEthnicity. I anticipate that the spectrum of the papers presented in the book will be sure to enhance the understanding, appreciation and evaluation of NorthEast Indian Poetry in its totality coupled with its great variety of form, content, beauty and charm.
