Mycobacteria cause two of the worlds most serious infectionstuberculosis and leprosyas well as a range of infections which occur particularly in HIVinfected patients. This second edition has been completely revised and updated by John Grange, one of the leading authorities on the subject. The book addresses the major developments in the field over the last decade: advances in drug therapies of leprosy, tuberculosis, and other mycobacterial diseases; the introduction of monoclonal antibodies; cell cloning techniques; and genetic engineering techniques.Mycobacteria and Human Disease provides a comprehensive review of the mycobacteria, their place in the environment, the way in which they interact with the living host, the nature of the diseases they cause and the available means of diagnosing, preventing, and curing such diseases. It is intended as a powerful resource for clinical microbiologists in practice or training, and will be of interest to infectious disease physicians and public health professionals.

I was really excited to get this book for my studies, but it arrived with some pages bent and marked. Honestly, I expected better packaging. The content looks good, but I can’t get past the condition it arrived in.

Good Info, But Lacked Some Depth
The book is informative, covering a lot about mycobacteria, but I expected more case studies. Some areas felt rushed. Still a solid read if you’re looking for a basic overview on the topic.

Great Resource for Understanding Disease
As a biology major, I found this book to be really enlightening! The sections on mycobacteria and their effects on human health are well-researched. It’s a bit dense but perfect for someone serious about microbiology.
