This study explores the social and cultural reasons behind Nihal Ye?inobal??s novel Gen K?zlar being published as a pseudotranslation based on the notion of gender. It also tries to point out that pseudotranslation is a translation studies concept capable of providing valuable clues concerning the social and cultural conjuncture of its time as well as a methodological tool. In this respect, it is further asserted that Ye?inobal? has gained a reputation through this very case of pseudotranslation in the Turkish literary system and later, with the aid of this reputation, she has been accepted as an author who still produces work on genderrelated issues.A detailed study of Yeg?nobal?'s published novels is presented to the reader, questioning her reputation as a 'feminist'. In the light of these discussions,it is concluded that a multidimensional approach would have a notable contribution to the international and interdisciplinary credibility of Translation Studies.
