Die Autorin macht entscheidende Widersprche zwischen politischen Erwartungen, ideell Vorgestelltem und real erfahrener Politik mit dem Ergebnis eines schleichenden Sinnverlustes in der DDR deutlich. Schwerpunkte der Untersuchung sind: der Antifaschismus als Grndungsmythos, Bauernkrieg und Reformation als Additionsmythen und das Preuentum als mythenpolitischer Anpassungsversuch.
