Somit stellt Tourismus einen vergleichsweise bedeutende Wirtschaftsfaktor fr Kanadas dar, vergleichbar mit z.B. dem Gesundheitswesen oder der Bauindustrie. Nimmt man die ExportBasisTheorie als konomische Ausgangssituation, ist davon auszugehen, dass die Basisindustrie Incoming Tourismus eine besonders hohen Einfluss auf die konomische Entwicklung der kanadischen Volkswirtschaft besitzt. Die Tourismusbranche sieht sich aber weitreichenden Vernderungen gegenber. Neben den klassischen Problemen der Branche sieht sich die Industrie der wachsenden Terrorangst konfrontiert. Zustzlich ist eine Vernderung der Reisetrends beobachtbar. Neue Segmentierungskriterien verndern die Aufgabenfelder der Unternehmen, whrend die soziologische, ideologische und gesellschaftspolitische Kritik am sog. Harten Tourismus (Massentourismus) das Reiseverhalten weltweit beeinflussen. Die einzigartige kologische Vielfalt Kanadas stellen in diesem Zusammenhang ein Potential dar, auf diese Entwicklungen zu reagieren. Moderne Formen des Tourismus, so z.B. kotourismus oder Nachhaltiger Tourismus sollen in der vorliegenden Arbeit definiert, analysiert und konomisch bewertet werden. Durch welche operationalisierbaren Kriterien ist kotourismus erkenn bzw. bewertbar? Welche Chancen und Umsetzungsstrategien ergeben sich fr Kanada und im besonderen fr das kanadische Nationalparksystem? Hierzu soll auch im Detail auf die Historie und Entwicklung des kanadischen Nationalparksystems eingegangen werden. Im letzten Teil der Arbeit soll anhand einiger Fallstudien die tatschliche Umsetzung dieser neuen Tourismusformen analysiert werden. Hat
