Vor diesem Hintergrund hat sich das Durchschnittsalter der deutschen Bevlkerung in den letzten 100 Jahren erheblich verndert. Hierbei wurde seit langem die Debatte um den Altersstrukturwandel der Bevlkerung nur in Hinblick auf das soziale Sicherungssystem betrachtet. Das der Altersstrukturwandel auch Auswirkungen auf die Wirtschaft nach sich zieht, wurde lange vernachlssigt. Diese Entwicklungen wurden in zahlreichen Studien verdeutlicht. Eine dieser Studien wurde vom Institut fr Mittelstandsforschung Bonn (IfM) durchgefhrt. Hierbei werden folgende wichtige Entwicklungen fr den Arbeitsmarkt aufgezeigt. Bereits ab dem Jahr 2020 wird eine deutliche Abnahme der Gesamtbevlkerung in Deutschland zu beobachten sein. Die Bevlkerung sinkt von derzeit 82 Mio. auf 69 Mio., was einer Bevlkerungssenkung von 16,6% entspricht. Das Erwerbspotential wird im Vergleich hierzu noch strker abnehmen, mit 29,1% von 50 Mio. auf ca. 36 Mio. Ein ganz zentraler Punkt dieser Entwicklung ist vor allem die Altersentwicklung der Bevlkerung. Der strkste Rckgang macht sich in der Altersgruppe der jungen Generation unter 20 Jahren bemerkbar. Der Anteil der jungen Leute wird in Zukunft um 18,1% von 16 Mio. auf 14 Mio. absinken. Gegenlufig hierzu verluft die Entwicklung der lteren Bevlkerung ab 65 Jahren, welche von 16 Mio. auf 19 Mio. (+17,0%) ansteigt. Diese Alterung der Bevlkerung hat zur Folge, dass die Zahl der lteren Erwerbsttigen berproportional ansteigt und der Anteil der jngeren und mittleren Altersgruppe abnimmt.2 Diese Erkenntnisse zeigen, dass die deutschen mittelstndischen Unternehmen
