Die Studienausgabe bietet die vollstndige bersetzung der Texte, whrend Einleitungen und Anmerkungen in gekrzter Form bzw. in Auswahl prsentiert sind. Die mehrheitlich im 2. und 3. Jahrhundert entstandenen Texte gehren zu den wichtigsten handschriftlichen Neuentdeckungen des 20. Jahrhunderts. Sie sind insbesondere fr das Studium der Bibelwissenschaften und der frhen Kirchengeschichte von kaum zu berschtzender Bedeutung.
