Time is one of the fundamental categories of human life experience in real and fictional world. Time can be represented in a narrative texts when it is said that time is one of the basic elements in the human experience of a fictional world. Time is almost the first thing that readers become aware of as he or she reads fiction. Because time in narrative, as Genette (1980) put it, treats the possibilities of temporal arrangements and presentations. In general, time in a narrative text deals with order, duration, and frequency of events in a narrative. For this reason, I choose to work on narrative technique, which is Narrative Time, and on the chosen novel because; firstly, Narrative Time is one big technique that contributes a lot to the development and interpretation of the novel under investigation; secondly, this work will narrow the gap that is found between the modern narrative techniques and current Ethiopian novels that couldnt get the attention of different scholars.
