Ce dialogue aborde plusieurs sujets qui font dbat au XVIIIme sicle (et sont toujours dignes de rflexion aujourd'hui) comme la musique, l'amour, les plaisirs, la morale, la justice sociale, l'ducation, etc. Alors que Moi professe une philosophie rationnelle, Lui se moque de son idalisme qu'il juge inapplicable dans la socit o il voit que triomphe l'gosme, et se montre rsolument cynique.
