In this systematic, bookbybook exploration of the theology of each New Testament writing, Frank J. Matera explores theological diversity and unity in the writings of the New Testament. After an introduction to the history and method of New Testament theology, he explains and describes the theologies of the Synoptic, Pauline, and Johannine traditions, as well as the rich theology of other New Testament voices: Hebrews, the Catholic Epistles, and the book of Revelation. Integrating both Protestant and Catholic approaches, this work provides students, pastors, and scholars a comprehensive view of the New Testament that is rich in exegetical and theological insight.

The content is enriching, but some sections felt a little heavy and hard to digest. The exploration of themes is well-done, though. It’s useful for students or anyone really interested in New Testament studies, just be prepared to take your time with it.

Not what I expected
I was looking for something more straightforward. This book gets a bit too academic for my taste, and I felt lost in some chapters. It looks well-researched, but it didn’t resonate with me personally. Will be passing it on to a friend who's more into theology.

A Thought-Provoking Read
I bought this for my church group and it sparked a lot of great discussions. The diversity in interpretations is really enlightening. Just wish the organization of the chapters was a bit clearer; it took some flipping back and forth to get all the connections.
