Nnimotuzumab (hR3) es un anticuerpo monoclonal humanizado IgG1 que reconoce un eptopo ubicado en el dominio extracelular del receptor del factor de crecimiento epidrmico (EGFR) humano. La eficacia clnica se ha demostrado en tumores de cabeza y cuello y gliomas de lato grado de malignidad, la seguridad ha sido probada en ms de de 3000 pacientes en el mundo. Los tumores de esfago constituyen una de las primeras causas de muerte por cncer en el mundo, pero tienen la caracterstica de presentar en un 90 % de los casos una alta expresin del EGFR por lo que podra ser una nueva indicacin teraputica para el nimotuzumab. Objetivo: El objetivo principal fue evaluar la seguridad, tasa de respuesta objetiva y la supervivencia en los pacientes tratados con nimotuzumab en combinacin con quimioradioterapia (QRT) (5FU cisplatino y 6 semanas de radioterapia diaria de 1,8 Gy) en un ensayo clnico de fase II. Material y Mtodos: Ensayo Clnico Fase II, aleatorizado, multicntrico, abierto, prospectivo, cumpliendo con las BPC. Los resultados de este estudio dieron lugar al Registro Sanitario de este AcM en Cuba en el ao 2010.
