El objeto de estudio es la problemtica de los denominados nios de la calle en el Distrito Federal, Mxico como expresin de la desarticulacin entre la poltica pblica social y derechos humanos desde la firma de la Convencin sobre los Derechos del Nio al ao 2007. El objetivo es conocer las causas de la falta de correspondencia entre los fundamentos universales sobre los derechos humanos, especficamente los derechos de la niez, y la construccin de una poltica pblica social. El estudio se realiza a travs de una visin retrospectiva de la atencin al fenmeno de la separacin temprana de menores de edad de la familia y bajo una perspectiva integral, sustentada en elementos tericos y empricos desde la sociologa y con referencia al fundamento jurdicoadministrativo para la proteccin de derechos. Contiene una cronologa del periodo analizado sobre sucesos relacionados con el tema, un cuadro integral para la mejor comprensin de la estructura del Estado en Mxico y, como parte fundamental de este trabajo, se presenta una compilacin del marco jurdico vigente internacional, regional, federal y en el Distrito Federal sobre derechos humanos, familia, mujeres y niez.
