This book addresses a world dominated by free market capitalism, a world where persons become human resources, the raw materials for competitive production and profitable investment. Barbara Rumscheidt asks how Christians are to do pastoral theology in such a world, exploring the potential for Christian faith responses that can resist the dehumanizing dynamics of the global economy.

I picked this up hoping for some light reading, but it turned out to be quite dense. While the content on pastoral theology is rich, I found some sections a bit hard to digest. Still, it sparked great conversations with my study group about the global economy and ethics, so it wasn't a total loss.

Deep Insight into Pastoral Theology
This book really opened my eyes to the connections between pastoral theology and global issues. The analysis of dehumanization in the economy was particularly impactful. I’ve been recommending it to my fellow church members; it’s a must-read for anyone interested in how faith intersects with social justice.
