Luz Dary Garca Monroy de Velsquez nace un 19 de abril de 1.941, en la ciudad de Armenia Quindo, Colombia, S.A. Se gradu de maestra superior en el colegio 'departamental de la merced', en Bogot, Colombia, en 1.968. Viaja a los Estados Unidos en el ao 1.972, donde contrae matrimonio con el colombiano, Leonardo Velsquez teniendo dos hijos: Luis y Leonard. Ms tarde consigue la ciudadana de ste pas y en 1.984 entra a trabajar en el campo de la educacin en el distrito de Freeport, Long Island, NY, enseando el idioma ingls a nios y adultos, en las escuelas 'Carolina g. Atkinson' y en 'J. W. Dodd Middle School'. El 16 de febrero del 2.005, recibe por el comit de educacin de la ciudad de Freeport, un certificado de reconocimiento a sus 20 aos dedicados al servicio en la educacin de los nios. En abril del 2.006 publica su primer libro de poemas titulado 'remembranzas', una coleccin de 101 poemas e ilustrado con bellsimas obras de arte por su familia. En el mes de junio de ste mismo ao, participa en el 'New York Book Fare' en Astoria Queens. En el 2008 fue nominada como la mejor maestra auxiliar de la escuela Atkinson en Freeport Long Island. En mayo 3, 2.010 recibe un importante reconocimiento por su destacado trabajo como maestra de adultos por el estado de new york (NYACCE). Tambin ha participado en muchos eventos culturales. En la actualidad trabaja en la publicacin de su primer libro de cuentos cortos y en el libro de poemas en los idiomas ingls y espaol.
