Each chapter begins with the motivation and construction of the methods under discussion, moves on to practical considerations associated with their implementation, and concludes with an indepth treatment of rigorous mathematical details. The chapterend problem sets include both theoretical and computational exercises. The authors provide a broad selection of current numerical methods, especially those used in scientific computation involving differential equations. The text also introduces many topics often omitted in books at this level, including:* Multidimensional interpolation* QuasiNewton methods* Multigrid methods* QR methods of eigenvalues* Finite elements* And many moreFrom the Back CoverCombines the Rigor of a Numerical Analysis Text with the Practical Guidance of a Methods Text Numerical Analysis for Applied Science is a graduatelevel text suitable for both scientists and engineers as well as applied mathematicians.
