Old NinetySix and Abbeville District are the presentday counties of Abbeville, Anderson, Cherokee, Edgefield, Greenwood, Greenville, Laurens, Newberry, Pickens, Oconee, Saluda, Spartanburg, and Union. Old NinetySix District bordered Georgia on its western boundary and was the ancestral home of many early Georgia settlers.
