Stafford County is located on the Northern Neck of Virginia and was formed in 1666 from Westmoreland County. Overwharton Parish, according to the author, was coextensive with Stafford County, and included the present counties of Alexandria, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, and Prince William.
