According to some unofficial researches and my own experience in the field of teaching reading skill , I have found that some students had many problems when they were being asked to read some online text especially when they were supposed to participate in an online reading comprehension test. So I tried to find out the reason or reasons of this problem. The first probability for this problem was that the difference between online and offline environment influenced the students' performance in an online reading comprehension test. The second probability that I have made for this problem was that having a high level of IT literacy had any effect on the performance of students in the online reading comprehension test or not. And the last hypothesis for investigating the reason of this problem was that students may have employed inappropriate strategies while they were reading online. All these probabilities and hypotheses have led the researcher toward formulating the null hypotheses of this study. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of online Reading strategies on the choice of offline Reading strategies of Iranian Intermediate EFL Learners.
