Wenn man vor dem Problem der optimalen Gestaltung von Produkteigenschaftsauspri ngen flir Neuprodukte steht, bietet sich dem Entscheider eine Vielzahf' von unterschiedlichen Verfahren. In den letzten 20 Jahren hat sich die dekompositionelle Methode der Conjoint Analyse als Standardverfahren herausgeschilt. Von vielen Marktforschem wenig bemerkt, hat sich inzwischen auch die kompositionelle Methode des 'Analytic Hierarchy Process' (AHP) als geeignetes Verfahren herausgestellt. Da beide Methoden nach vallig verschiedenen Prinzipien vorgehen, aber formal dieselbe OutputStruktur lief em, untersucht Tscheulin mit Hilfe eines empirischen Experimentes, welche der beiden Methoden sich besser flir die Neuproduktplanung eignet. Zur Durchflihrung seines Vergleichs wendet Tscheulin sowohl die ConjointAnalyse als auch AHP auf ein und dasselbe Entscheidungsproblem an, namlich auf die Gestaltung von Schiffskreuzfahrten. Um eine bessere Vergleichbarkeit der zugrundeliegenden Daten zu erreichen, befragt er denselben Personenkreis mit Hilfe beider Methoden. Hier hat sich sicherlich giinstig ausgewirkt, daB die befragten Kreuzfahrtpassagiere iiber viel Zeit verfiigen und die Befragung vielleicht auch als angenebme Abwechslung empfunden haben. Der eigentliche Vergleich wird auf der Basis von zwei MaBen flir die Prognosegiite beider Verfahren durchgefiihrt. So Ii6t Tscheulin jeden Befragten nach Durchflihrung der ConjointAnalyse und der AHPAnalyse sechs auf farbigen Katalogseiten dargestellte Kreuzfahrten in eine Priferenzrangfolge bringen und untersucht spater, ob er mit seinen Verfahren diese Priferenzrangfolge rekonstuieren kann. Des weiteren priift Tscheulin, ob die von den Befragten tatsachlich ausgesuchte Kreuzfahrtreise den hOchsten Wert gemi6 der abgeleiteten Priferenzfunktion hat. Schlie8lich untersucht Tscheulin noch die FaceValiditit der beiden Verfahren, in dem er die ermittelten Priferenzrichtungen bei den Befragten auf Plausibilitit priift.
