Ihre Reputation als verlaBliche gesellschaftspolitische Akteure hangt dabei nicht nur von der Seriositat und Effizienz der von ihnen vertretenen Politik ab, sondern in gleichem AusmaB von der Akzeptanz durch ihre eigenen Mitglieder. Verbandsaustritte bei den Arbeitgebern und Mitgliederriickgange bei den Ge werkschaften sind keineswegs nur erfreuliche Nachrichten fur die jeweilige Ge genseite: sie sind nicht nur Indikatoren zunehmender Organisationssschwache, sondern auch aufgrund des interdependenten Verhaltnisses beider Verbande ernstzunehmende Signale tiber den potentiellen internen EinfluBverlust der fUr eine Verhandlung notwendigen Gegenseite. Die innerorganisatorischen Kon troversen, die durch die jtingsten Tarifabschliisse und deren Modalitaten oder urn die Zukunft des Flachentarifvertrags entbrannten, zeigen, daB derlei Konse quenzen nieht allzu dramatisch tiberzeichnet sind. Halt man sieh zudem die stetig abnehmende Zahl von Gewerkschaftsmitgliedern vor Augen, wird auch hier der Zustand des organisierten Konfliktpotentials auf Arbeitnehmerseite deutlich. Hier setzt die vorliegende Studie an: sie macht sich die Uberprtifung der Akzeptanz der IG Metall in Sachsen aus Sicht ihrer Mitglieder zur Auf gabe. Interessen k6nnen zumeist schnell formuliert, lange diskutiert, aber nur selten im vollen Umfang realisiert werden. Die Entstehung der hier vorliegen den Studie stellt insoweit eine Ausnahme von derlei Alltagserfahrungen dar. Denn nur selten wird zunachst euphorisch anmutenden Forschungsinitiativen von den Objekten ihrer wissenschaftlichen Begierde sofortige Sympathie und ebenso brennende Aufmerksamkeit entgegengebracht.
