Die Organisationstheorie hat in den letzten Jahren in bemerkenswerter Weise neue Im pulse erhalten. Zwei Entwicklungen, die in unterschiedlichen Disziplinen ihren Ursprung haben, verdienen besondere Erwahnung. Einmal sind aus den klassischen mikro okonomischen Beitragen zur Koordinations und Anreizproblematik relativ geschlossene organisationstheoretische Konzepte in Form des Transaktionskostenansatzes und der Agency Theorie entstanden, die eine ungewohnliche Anziehungskraft entfalten. Zum an deren hat sich in den Sozialwissenschaften mit dem 'interpretativen' Ansatz eine Rich tung herausgebildet, die das traditionelle betrlebswirtschaftliche Organisationsverstandnis insgesamt in Frage stellt. Wenn auch keine dieser Richtungen im strengen Sinne ganzlich neue Wege geht, wird es dennoch fUr den Wissenschaftler und den Praktiker zunehmend schwieriger, seinen eigenen Standort zu bestimmen. Ohne einen klaren Bezugspunkt ist die Erfassung und Bewertung der verschiedenen Beitrage nicht moglich. In dieser Schrift wird die Perspektive des Betriebswirts zugrunde gelegt. Ffir den Autor liegt das Wesen der betriebswirtschaftlichen Theoriebildung in der Anwendungsorientierung eine betriebswirtschaftliche Organisationstheorie muB danach trachten, wissenschaftlich fun dierte Gestaltungshilfen und empfehlungen fUr die Praxis zu erarbeiten. Der Handlungs bezug, die Notwendigkeit zum Handeln bei unvollkommenem Informationsstand fiber ein komplexes Problem, bildet den MaBstab bei der Beurteilung des Aussagegehalts der ver schiedenen organisatorischen Beitrage. Diese Schrift will deshalb nicht nur einen Uber blick fiber den Stand der Organisationstheorie liefem, sie will dariiber hinaus einen me thodischen Beitrag zur Gestaltung organisatorischer Systeme leisten.
