Obwohl die meisten der von uns geplanten Bande als Einfuhrungstexte in Teilbereiche der Politikwissenschaft konzipiert werden geschrieben in der Regel von Politikwissenschaftlern( innen) , nennen wir die Schriftenreihe bewuBt nicht Grundwissen Politikwis senschaft. Denn Studierende der Politikwissenschaft sind nur eine Zielgruppe fur die geplanten Bande; die andere, eher gr6Bere Gruppe sind an Politik inter essierte Leser, politische Bildung aktiv oder passiv praktizierende Interes senten und die steigende Zahl von Weiterbildungsadressaten. Politikwissenschaft und Politik sind gemeinhin zwei Welten, so verschieden wie die Welt des Germanisten von der des Schriftstellers, des Wirtschaftswis senschaftlers von der des B6rsianers oder des Musikwissenschaftlers von der des Opernstars. Grundwissen Politik heillt diese Reihe auch deshalb, weil sie beansprucht, manche Schwellen und Graben zwischen Theorie und Praxis, Wissenschaft und Alltagspolitik zu iiberwinden. Und sie will eine politische Po litikwissenschaft zeigen, die nicht nur kontroverse Positionen darstellt, sondern auch Positionen einnimmt, ohne allerdings ins Politisieren oder parteiliche In doktrinieren abzugleiten. Politische Positionen sind offen zu legen, zu kenn zeichnen, urn sie der kontroversen Debatte und der eigenen Urteilsfindung zu ganglich zu machen.
