La presente tesis se ocupa del pulchrum en Santo Toms de Aquino pero desde el marco interpretativo del quae visa placent, proposicin forjada por el Aquinate para describir a lo bello como un trascendental. El estudio de esta expresin revela una configuracin interna donde se destacan dos dimensiones cuyo anlisis hace posible su adecuada comprensin. En primer lugar, se advierte la asuncin del pensamiento tradicional sobre lo bello sintetizado y enriquecido por Platn. De igual modo se observa la presencia de la reflexin de San Agustn de Hipona y Dionisio Areopagita quienes proponen un nuevo contexto de lectura a la filosofa platnica y neoplatnica, deviniendo un pensar tradicional y original a la vez. En segundo lugar, se descubre que esos elementos tradicionales son reconfigurados por el Aquinate bajo un nuevo marco de comprensin: la doctrina de los trascendentales y el concepto de imago Dei. De esta manera el quae visa placent se revela como una expresin que sin dejar de ser tradicional manifiesta una importante originalidad y constituye un gran aporte a la especulacin filosfica sobre el pulchrum.
