Wie erklren sich Kinder die Rechtschreibung? Mit Hilfe eines spezifischen Forschungdesigns wurde versucht, die Bewusstwerdungsprozesse beim kindlichen Orthographieerwerb im Verlauf der ersten Schuljahre zu beobachten und zu modellieren. Statt punktueller Querschnittserhebungen oder Analysen von Schreibprodukten wurde der Schwerpunkt dieser Lngsschnittsuntersuchung auf uerungen von Kindern zu ihren Schreibungen, also auf die Verbalisierungen ihrer Kognitionen gelegt. Ergnzt wurden diese uerungen mit diversen quantitativ und qualitativ erhobenen Daten. Aus den Auswertungen der Beoabchtung einzelner Kinder in der Grundschule wurde ein Modell zur Rechtschreibbewusstheit im kindlichen Sprachlernprozess entwickelt, das der Komplexitt und Dynamik dieses Phnomens nahe kommt.
