Religion, Ethik, Moral, Politik) einrumt und oft einhergeht mit amoralischen, atheistischen oder nihilistischen Einstellungen. Sie bevorzugt die knstliche Welt des schnen Scheins und entspringt meist einer passivresignativen oder betont kontemplativen Einstellung zum Leben, einem hedonistischen Luststreben oder Furcht aus einer feindlich empfundenen Wirklichkeit. Die antisoziale und apolitische Haltung des sthetizismus steht im krassen Gegensatz zu gesellschaftskritischen Engagement zweckgerichteter Kunstrichtungen wie z.B. dem Naturalismus, der Arbeiterliteratur oder Teilen des Expressionismus. Dem sthetizismus geht es dagegen um die Kunst um der Kunst Willen (Lrt pour lrt).1 So lautet die lexikalische Definition des Begriffes sthetizismus". Die folgende Ausarbeitung beschftigt sich mit dem Leben Oscar Wildes, einem Mann der von Manchen als der sthet schlechthin gesehen wird. Diese Hausarbeit soll einen Einblick in das turbulente Leben dieses ungewhnlichen Menschen verschaffen: Von seinen jungen Jahren, ber seinen Aufstieg und den literarischen Hhepunkt, bis zum tiefen Fall der Figur Oscar Wildes. In einem kurzen Schlusswort wird dann noch einmal die ursprngliche Definition herangezogen um die Frage zu beantworten: Trifft diese theoretische Definition auf den stheten zu?
