Original.About the AuthorJanis K. Percefull, a Hot Springs native, earned her Master of Arts degree in Public History from the University of Arkanasas at Little Rock in December of 2005. While in graduate school she received two historical research awards, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences History of Medicine award in 2001, later accepted for international competition, and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Gender Studies award in 2003. She has also completed four tours of duty with Hot Springs National Park in the past five years. At present she now runs the Ouachita Springs Region Historical Research Center.
