Nachkriegsrezession. Im Vordergrund stand die unmittelbare Hilfeleistung auf der Grundlage christlicher, humanistischer oder politischer berzeugungen. Seit den frhen 1960er Jahren existiert ein konomisch relevanter Dritter Sektor' zwischen Staat und Wirtschaft. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt wurde das Subsidiarittsprinzip, die Verpflichtung der Gemeinschaft zur Hilfeleistung gegenber ihren Mitgliedern, im Bundessozialhilfegesetz, im Kinder und Jugendhilfegesetz sowie im Sozialgesetzbuch verankert. Dabei soll der Vorrang der Gewhrung der Hilfeleistung der jeweils brgernchsten Einheit zukommen. Durch diese Gesetzgebung wurde der Staat verpflichtet, mit den Nonprofitorganisationen zu kooperieren sowie ihnen finanzielle Untersttzung zu gewhren. Es entstand ein geschtzter Markt, in dem vor allem Nonprofitorganisationen, die den sechs Spitzenverbnden angeschlossen waren, einen privilegierten Status hatten und kommerzielle Anbieter keinen Marktzutritt erhielten. Es erfolgte eine konomisierung vor allem im Gesundheitswesen, bei sozialen Dienstleistungen, im Sport und weiteren Bereichen. Allein im Sozial und Gesundheitswesen beschftigen die Nonprofitorganisationen derzeit ber eine Million hauptamtliche Mitarbeiter. Diese konomisierung fhrte zu einer Zunahme wirtschaftlicher Risiken und erfordert eine Differenzierung der betrieblichen Organisation sowie eine Professionalisierung der Leitungsebene von Nonprofitorganisationen. Unterbleiben derartige Anpassungsprozesse, kommt es zu Insolvenzen oder wirtschaftlichen Schieflagen.
