John Miltons epic story of cosmic rebellion and the beginning of human history has long been considered one of the greatest and most gripping narratives ever written in English. Yet its intensely poetic language, nowantiquated syntax and vocabulary, and dense allusions to mythical and Biblical figures make it inaccessible to many modern readers. This is, as the critic Harold Bloom wrote in 2000, a great sorrow, and a true cultural loss.Dennis Danielson aims to open up Miltons epic for a twentyfirstcentury readership by providing a fluid, accessible rendition in contemporary prose alongside the original. The edition allows readers to experience the power of the original poem without barriers to understanding.

I'm really enjoying the Parallel Prose Edition of Paradise Lost. The prose layout makes it so much easier to understand Milton's original text. Plus, the Broadview Editions always have great supplemental materials that enhance the reading experience.

Wasn't Impressed with the Quality
I received my copy, but it arrived with a slightly damaged spine. The content is solid, but it really took away from the experience. I’ll keep it, but I expected better quality control from Broadview.

A Must-Have for Literature Lovers!
This is a beautifully put together edition of Paradise Lost. The prose format really attracts me to reread the text in a new light. It's like having a conversation with Milton himself. Love it!

Not What I Expected
I thought this would be a thorough edition of Paradise Lost, but it felt a bit shallow in interpretation. The prose format is helpful, but I was hoping for more in-depth analysis. It’s okay, not great.

Perfect Study Aid
This Parallel Prose Edition is fantastic for anyone studying Milton. The side-by-side format makes it easy to reference the original text. I found the annotations really helpful too! Would definitely recommend it to fellow students.
