Parallel Roads, Opposing Directions combines the fictional, intimate and turbulent lives of its two main characters, Julia Arady and Robert Kardosh, with factual history as a background. From their early years, their lives ran parallel, but the choices they made took them in different directions. The storyline draws comparison between a reasoning mind that sees goodness as the ultimate goal in life and a mind that refuses reality, embraces evil and allows it to guide him. Autumn of 1956 saw the uprising against Communism in Hungary. Thousands escaped and scattered to all four corners of the globe. Julia and her father settled in New York, while Robert, to escape his past, went to London. In his midforties and on the brink of insanity, Robert decides the only way to achieve absolution from all the evil he has done in his life is to find Julia, convinced she holds the key to his salvation.
