Parents Assuring Student Success (PASS) addresses poor student learning in school, and details ways for teachers to teach parents how to help their children at home. PASS is about collaboration; it draws on the talents and energies of parents to assist educators in raising the educational standards for every child. Using an easytofollow approach, PASS shows parents what can be done to help their children succeed. PASS is a longterm, parentfriendly, skill development program. Its main purpose is to train parents to work with their children at home to instill those general study skills that are universally recognized as being linked to school success. This family selfhelp manual consists of two major parts. The first part teaches parents what it takes to become efficient learners. Here, the focus is on study skills, including the principles and characteristics of wellknown learning strategies. The second part demonstrates to parents the importance of their own learning skills, and how to reinforce critical study habits in their children at home. These are skills parents can easily learn, either by themselves or with other parents.
