Jenseits tagespolitischer Aktivitten der Parlamente bilden die Bauten dieser Institution mitsamt ihrer Ausstattung nationale Monumente, die hufig den Prozess der Nationenwerdung, das nationale Selbstverstndnis oder dessen Brche dokumentieren. Das Bundeshaus in Bern mit seiner 150jhrigen Geschichte stellt innerhalb Europas das herausragende Beispiel eines kontinuierlich weiter entwickelten Hauses dar. Dieser Bau mit seiner faszinierenden Baugeschichte und seinem weitgehend erhaltenen Bildprogramm wird im Umfeld bedeutender europischer und nordamerikanischer Parlamentsbauten neu betrachtet.Der vorliegende Sammelband stellt die 150jhrige Geschichte des Berner Bundeshauses vor und diskutiert es im Kontext internationaler Parlamentsbauten.Die Beitrge entstanden im Zusammenhang mit der gleichnamigen, im Bundeshaus Bern vom 17.19.10.2012 veranstalteten Tagung.
