Ladiner, Italiener oder Deutsch?"1 Wie kann es sein, dass diese Frage von einer italienischen Mutter an ihren eigenen Sohn gestellt wird? Das Grdnertal im Herzen der autonomen Provinz Sdtirol innerhalb der Republik Italien diente uns als Untersuchungsgebiet auf der Suche nach einer kulturellen Identitt der italienischsprachigen Sdtiroler. Die Bevlkerung des Grdnertals ist grtenteils der ladinischen Sprachgruppe zugehrig, die in der Provinz Sdtirol vier Prozent der Gesamtbevlkerung ausmacht. In diesem Tal sind deutschsprachige und italienischsprachige Sdtiroler in der Minderheit. Ausgehend von der Frage, wie sich die italienischsprachige Volksgruppe in St. Ulrich, dem Hauptort des Grdnertals, darstellt und tatschlich im alltglichen Umgang verhlt, haben wir im Rahmen des Studienprojektes Lebenswelten und Lebensrume im Grdnertal"2 versucht Konfliktpunkte und Besonderheiten im Zusammenleben ausfindig zu machen. Kommt es im Alltag aus Sicht der italienischsprachigen Sdtiroler zu einer weitgehenden Integration oder eher zu einer Abgrenzung der Sprachgruppen? Wie gestalten sich die persnlichen Beziehungen in der Bevlkerung im Ort? Inwieweit sind Herkunft und Migrationshintergrund der italienischen Sprachgruppe als Ursache fr Konflikte im interethnischen Zusammenleben heranzuziehen und sind diese in der Realitt tatschlich auffindbar? Es wird versucht, im Rahmen der vorliegenden Arbeit die Besonderheiten und Merkmale Sdtirols im Allgemeinen und des Grdnertals im Speziellen aus Sicht der italienischsprachigen Bevlkerungsgruppe aufzudecken und zu skizzieren.
